    Joshua,

Whew!! I really like page #1. You introduce so many levels and degrees of thoughts about adventure quickly, concisely, and stirringly. In addition, the way you introduce your readers to the characters thus far draws them into a hint of an understanding of each one. Which as you know, will help the reader sympathize with your characters – drawing them in further to this adventure. Your explicit theme of adventure and implicit themes, still to be completely revealed, will make for a fun and fantastic reading experience.

Keep up the great work! Literature is in need of such fancy filled fun.

    Blessings,

    Micheal Silvey

    Hi Joshua,
Although you and I get to converse about your book on a regular basis, I wanted to comment on your site about how proud I am of you. The depth of thought you put into everything simply amazes me.
    Love you, Dad.

    Joshua,

I always enjoy reading your work, and feel privileged to be able to do so. Your discussion of adventure, showing the dichotomy between hope for and fear of adventure which is manifested in Brett’s thoughts, is particularly an excellent read. I tend to think that a similar pattern of conflicting opinions exists in us all! This makes it easy for readers to identify with Brett.

You also do well in being descriptive, specifically when describing the dragon picture that Brett creates. Good job!

Ah! Post more story, please! I need to know more about who is on the other side of that door!
    What great writing, Josh!
I’d love to use your first chapter in my classroom when teaching my students how to eloquently introduce characters. What a great start to what I know will be a fantastic series.
“An adventure offers the chance for courage” was my favorite line. This is quite an adventurous undertaking that I am so proud you have the courage to take! You KNOW I love a great adventure and cannot wait to take this one with you and Brett! Well done nephew!
